Re: Mia's fabulous Baby Beret and scarf
ok, so here's the thing...i expect to have it to you this Saturday.
we are taking Marlana to the airport, O'Hare, and we be done up there round 6:00 pm. so will drive back through to your area and give this to you.
I haven't talk to Ginny yet, but we would like to stop in there too and see them. want to see how Roberts doing and let the kids show off their puppy.
expecting to be able to give it to you and having it finished is a whole other thing! problem is that neither is no where near done yet!
as darling as it is, it has been a huge challenge. (i am explaining here, on the mere chance others are interested in it, not complaining, so don't feel bad) the challenge lies in that this is so small it has to be done on small needles not the standard ones you see people use. so i am knitting this on four straight needles all connected to each other no bigger than pick up sticks! (when i am really moving and moving the needles doing it, I feel like Edward Scissors hands!) with yarn not much bigger around. (i've pretty much only worked on big gauge yarn and needles.) add that too using the eyelash yarn that makes it hard to see anything and does not give or stretch when using it, so the whole thing is very tight and stiff to knit. and this being something new, means i can't sit and mindlessly knit. i have to actually think when I do this pattern so I have to have non interrupted nothing going on time. soooooooo with all this going on, through this lengthy process, i have, for one reason or another had to start the *&^%$#+ thing over 3 times! (RUN SCREAMING IN THE STREETS!) and i am doing all this not being real confident if will fit right. this is living the knitting edge.
however, i keep taking deep breathes, starting over and plodding along.
I hope to be done when we come up that way. is that in enough time for pictures? I HOPE SO!
after all this struggle I was thinking she could keep and use it to dress up her dollies or bigger stuffed animals. or it could be saved for the next baby girl in the family. don't want this to end up at Good Will !
the picture is only at the four needle stag. eventually, 88stitches are divided onto 4 needles and knitted with a fifth needles one side at a time in the round.
so there is your answer.
is anyone going to be home this Saturday evening?
LMK
Love, AV

She finished the band part last night. Now comes the easy part, the hat itself. becuase she does not have to use the eyelash she should move much quicker. All she has to do is to remember to decrease as she does it.

We will be home to AND Robert will be working on the basement. You don't ever need an invitation to come by. It does not bother me at all if people just drop in! Can't wait to see you guys.

12:42 PM, April 06, 2006
isn't it bon voyage?
12:57 PM, April 06, 2006
Yes, Valerie Raquel is correct. Bon voyage.
Anyway, when I first started reading this post I could see the headlines "Frustrated knitter stabs husband with knitting needle!"
And on another note... Virginia I think it is so nice and hospitable for you to say that no one has to call before they come over. How nice... and CRAZY. Just kidding. But for the record: I am not as nice or hospitable, so people... call before you come over to MY house. :)

I really like Valerie R's refer to me as Ms LaBeel. that was cute!
5:57 PM, April 06, 2006
I like Ms. LaBeel too!
I really don't mind having people over. The more the better. Seriously, there is someone at my house 5 of the 7 days a week. Also the kids are getting big and friends are starting to come over. I need to "BE COOL" to all the friends so they want to come to my house because I am to parinoid to let my kids be at someone else's house. I want my house to be the "FUN HOUSE" for my kids friends. So far it seems to be working in my favor. A well stocked kitchen seems to be helping this goal!
9:02 AM, April 07, 2006
virginia - you're not cool anymore...SORRY!
11:49 AM, April 07, 2006
shut up Val! I am COOL!
8:46 AM, April 10, 2006
sorry. but you will always be too old to be cool to your kids
9:31 AM, April 10, 2006
sorry. but you will always be too old to be cool to your kids
9:31 AM, April 10, 2006
Yes, to my kids, but to their friends is a differnt story. I am trying to be COOL enough for their friends to want to come over all the time instead of my kids always wanting to go to their friends house. Do I sound PSHYCO yet?
12:51 PM, April 10, 2006
no, you're not PSYCHO...and I totally agree with your plan of having all the kids' friends at your house...but you're still not cool...SO SORRY!
